What Is This Thing?
A small resin planter, about 12cm tall, shaped as a round pale head with two dot eyes and a small closed-mouth smile. It sits in its own miniature rocking chair, hands folded, and the open top of its skull is where the soil goes.
Whatever you plant becomes its hair. The listing shows it with a spray of yellow flowers, with a tuft of succulents, and — in the second version sold under the same title — sitting on a little wooden swing hung from a tree, legs dangling, trailing string-of-pearls down its face.
Why You Don't Need It
It is a plant pot. A plain one holds the same amount of soil for less money and does not stare at you from the windowsill.
It is also small. Twelve centimetres is a succulent, a cutting, or a very determined herb, and nothing that wants to grow will be happy in it for long.
Why You'll Buy It Anyway
Because the expression is exactly right. It is not grinning, which would be unsettling, and it is not blank, which would be dull. It is the face of someone who has sat down in a rocking chair on a warm afternoon and does not intend to get up.
And the plant changes the joke as it grows. A fresh succulent is a neat haircut. A trailing plant three months later is a head of hair that has got away from its owner, and the face does not seem to mind.

Who It's Actually For
Windowsills, desks and bookshelves — anywhere a small plant would go, where the plant alone would not be enough to look at.
It is also a very good housewarming gift in the specific case of someone who kills plants, because the pot is worth keeping after the plant has gone.

Check for a drainage hole. Resin planters at this price frequently have none, and a succulent sitting in its own water will rot inside a month. If there is no hole, use it as a cover pot with a plastic one inside.
Decide between the chair and the swing. They are sold under the same listing and they are different objects: one sits on a shelf, the other needs something to hang from.
