What Is This Thing?
A wooden base with an electromagnet inside, and above it — touching nothing — a filament bulb, turning slowly and glowing. Power reaches it by induction across the gap, so there is no wire, no contact, and no explanation available to anyone looking at it for the first time.
The bulb sits about an inch clear of the base and rotates on its own. That is the entire product.
Why You Don't Need It
It is a lamp that produces the light of a lamp. Everything else it does is for the benefit of people looking at it rather than people trying to see by it.
It is also, at sixty dollars, the most expensive thing on this site by a factor of four, and that money buys an effect rather than a function.
Why You'll Buy It Anyway
Because a light bulb hanging in mid-air is genuinely difficult to stop watching, and no photograph of one has ever done it justice. The slow rotation is what sells it — it reads as suspended rather than mounted.
Most objects that look impossible turn out to have a clear stand or a thin rod. This one does not, and the first thing everybody does is wave a hand through the gap.

Who It's Actually For
Desks that receive visitors. Offices, studios, shelves that already hold things chosen to be looked at. It is a standard gift for someone who has run out of things to want.
It is also the one object here that works as a present for someone who would find a rubber chicken beneath them.
before you click buy
Magnetic levitation is fussy about placement. It wants a level surface away from metal, and the bulb has a balance point you have to find on the first go.
Strong magnets and a powered base do not belong near cards, drives or anything with a stripe. And check what is included — some listings sell the base alone and the bulb separately, at prices close enough to be confusing.
