What Is This Thing?
A translucent blue tower, 35.2cm tall and nine floors high, containing an orange screw. The screw turns, catches marbles at the bottom, and carries them to the top, where they are released into whatever track you have built.
It runs on a motor or, if you would rather, a hand crank. It is dimensioned to clip into standard building blocks, so it can be dropped into an existing marble city rather than used alone — the listing shows exactly that, a sprawling block-built town with this tower doing the vertical work.
Why You Don't Need It
It is a machine that undoes gravity so that gravity can be enjoyed again. The marbles go up for no reason other than to come down, and when they reach the bottom the tower picks them up and does it again.
On its own it is not even a toy. It is a component: without a run to feed, it lifts marbles to the top of itself and drops them on the floor.
Why You'll Buy It Anyway
Because the thing that kills a marble run is having to pick up the marbles. Every child who has built one has discovered within four minutes that the fun part lasts two seconds and the admin lasts the rest of the afternoon.
This removes the admin. A run with a lift in it becomes a closed loop that keeps going until someone switches it off, and that is a categorically different object from a run that needs a human operator.

Who It's Actually For
Anyone who already owns a bucket of marble-run or building-block parts and has noticed the loop problem. It is the upgrade, not the starting purchase.
It also works on a desk with nothing attached to it at all, as a thing that turns and lifts and is quietly satisfying to watch, which is the whole argument for half the objects on this site.
before you click buy
Check compatibility with what you already own. It is built to standard block dimensions, but marble-run sets vary in ball diameter, and a lift sized for one will jam on another.
Confirm what powers the motor and whether marbles are included. On a listing this cheap they usually are not, and a lift with nothing to lift is a slow afternoon.
