What Is This Thing?

A sealed acrylic block with a moulded wave running through it and a small ship sitting on the crest — a black pirate galleon in the version shown first, a liner in the blue one. The liquid inside is two-tone: dense sea below, clear air above.

Tilt it and the wave rolls. The ship stays on the surface and pitches with it, and when you set the block down the sea goes on moving for a while before it settles.

Why You Don't Need It

It is a paperweight that cannot hold paper down reliably, because you will keep picking it up.

The ship is also glued to nothing — it floats in a channel — which means the entire object is a sealed container of coloured liquid with a boat in it, and there is no version of that which solves a problem.
